THE JOY AND FUN OF PERFORMING MUSIC!

The Central Karelia music school offers basic arts education in music and dance in Heinävesi, Kitee, Liperi, Outokumpu, Polvijärvi, Rääkkylä and Tohmajärvi. Music education covers art music, folk music and pop/jazz music. We also provide dance lessons for children and young people in Kitee and Tohmajärvi. You can start at music playschool and apply later for basic education in music. 

 

Music Playschool

The music playschool offers playful music education for everyone from babies to schoolchildren. We sing, play instruments, rhyme, play games and do all fun things that involve music. The music playschool supports the overall development of children, according to age, through music. Only group education is provided. Education is given in Finnish only.

Basic Education in Music

The Central Karelia music school offers a wide variety of music education for people of all ages. You can apply anytime. No entrance exams. We fill student positions as and when open ones become available.  

You can apply to any instrument education. We try to address our offering within our resources. Education is mainly individual-based and is given in Finnish only.

Your application is valid until April 30, 2019. The application period in the spring begins in May for new students starting in August. Remember to renew your application during the spring application period, if you have not received your position by the end of April.

Dance

We provide dance classes for children and young people in Kitee and Tohmajärvi. Education is given in Finnish only.

  • Fairytale ballet classes for children of 3-4 years of age
  • Children’s dance lessons for children of 5-6 years of age
  • Other dance lessons (incl. jazz, show, modern dance and a variety of street dances) for different age groups from children of 7 years of age.

Open Education

You can also study your instrument through open education. Open education does not involve any performance requirements, but the student is more responsible for the costs of the education. Education is given in Finnish only.
